■ FUTURE HAUNTS | A LOOK BACK
■ In 2019, we went out with a big bang.
■ We've spoken at length about doing another haunt, logistically we have everything in place, but to make it effective, we'd need more of a team around us. The amount of people that asked us if another haunt was was happening in 2024 was a LOT, so much so we did consider doing one, but we just ran out of time.
■ From the stud wall building, framing, the roof (an absolute nightmare, that definitely needs a team of people), the prop building (the best part), electrical safety, lighting, heating, water drainage, public notices... it went on and on, especially when the press got involved.
■ We are a small house in a small town, but we even had, at one point, people visiting from Nottingham to experience our 2018 haunt! It was exciting times, but a heck of a lot of work, and our garden was basically destroyed. Even now in 2025, the grass still hasn't fully recovered! lol.
■ But not all is lost. We still have all the props, and there is a possibility that we may do something either this Halloween (2025) or next (2026)!
■ We still have options like doing a small outside display for Halloween night, that can still help raise money, but ultimately, we would need to raise funds for the running of the haunt and upkeep too. All told, we had over 30 people help us with 2019's Haunt, and in total, probably about several thousand hours of effort from the end of August to October 1st went into 2019's haunt, and there was still more we could have done!
■ 2018 and 2019's haunts saw the addition of adding in live actors to the haunt on Halloween night - The Woman In Black made an appearance, and scared people witless!
■ We have many fond memories of the 2016-2019 haunts, and if we were to do something again, there is lots we'd do different!
■ Let's have a think about it more, and see what the future holds...
■ You may have noticed this website has now changed to Halloween UK where it contains all my online Halloween endeavours. We may still do something charitable online, so stay tuned for that.
■ Thank you so far, and don't forget to follow me on Twitch and YouTube.

■ FUTURE HAUNT BUILDS | 2024 AND BEYOND
■ The Pandemic of 2020-2021 left me with lots of time to think about what I would do differently, and in 2022 I came close to launching into another build project, but it was still too fresh from the pandemic and people just weren't venturing out as much.
■ Every year, the jury is out/undecided wether or not I put on a haunt, but never say never. I like to work to a schedule from about June/July - the planning stage, to August - get the main planning/prep done, through toSeptember - main structure up walls, roof, get it covered over and nice and dark, check for stray light holes, etc.
■ Early October - main testing, prop and lighting installation so I can test everything out, check for any leaks, structure damage.
■ 2023 - Again, I made the decision to hold off doing anything major. I've picked up a fair bit of experience with building props and haunts and knowing what I know now, I would definitely do some things differently.
■ But going forwards to 2024 and beyond, I'm not ruling out anything... but what I will say is if I were to do it again, it would be bigger and better than before.
■ THE MAIN REASON I DO THIS...
■ Steve in 2019 at Colchester Stroke Unit. We raised £700 for the unit in 2019.
■ Thank you to everybody who contributed and visited our Haunted houses.
■ Let's also not forget, I set this up to help raise much needed funds for the Stroke Unit in Colchester where my Mum passed away in 2017. We helped raise many thousands of pounds and it helped to fund better care and training for the nurses, as well as buy new equipment. This was the real reason I toiled away for many months each year doing it. If nothing else, that would probably be the sole reason I'd do it all again.
■ A huge thanks to Angie Tillet from the Colchester & Ipswich Hospitals Charity, who stuck behind us for 2018, and 2019's Haunts supplying us with leaflets, charity buckets and all sorts. Thank You!
