■ PROJECTIONS | 2016
■ EARLY PROJECTION SCENES
■ For the Ghost House, our first haunt, I wanted a long corridor with a projection at the end. These were various zombie/ghoul effects. The projections didn't appear again until 2019, as I just wanted to focus on learning how to build props and work on the lighting triggers more.
■ The zombie scenes were most effective as they could be left running on a continuous loop.
■ One thing I wished I'd have done is angle the projectors more to hide the "white spot" on the projector. This is a common negative point about using rear projection. For the 2019 haunt, I employed a mirror and mounted the projector high up at an angle which kept it well hidden.
■ 2016 | MORE WORK WAS NEEDED
■ I knew that projection work was going to be a long drawn out process to get super accurate, so I decided to make 2016 an experiment with the projections. You need decent angles, and good projectors, with everything optimal to make them work.
■ If I were to do anything video wise again, I'd just use flat screens with perspex over the front to protect from spills/damage.
■ All that being said, they worked just fine, and people were suitably spooked on the night.
■ 2016 | GHOST HOUSE PROJECTION IDEAS
■ Initial ideas were to have rear projection to display a moving logo above the haunt.
